The driver of the year is determined through a combined process which distinguishes those drivers who have achieved an exemplary safety record and possess personal qualities that are a great reflection of what embodies our organization. These drivers are then put into a lottery system where one lucky driver is randomly selected for the $10,000 grand prize.
“I have been driving big trucks now for about 13 years. I was hired by Grocery Haulers (GHI) about 5 years ago, and at that time they were my 8th Company and the smallest. Since driving with GHI, I have learned that bigger is not always better. I have been recognized for my safe driving record on many occasions and they definitely let me know how much they appreciate me! GHI is a very family oriented Company. They know each driver by name and not numbers, from the owner to all of the functional department members. They are extremely generous throughout the year with lunches and gifts. I had recently been named “Driver of the Quarter” and I received a personalized jacket, plaque and a monetary gift. Being a Driver of the Quarter enabled me to be entered into the lottery drawing for “Driver of the Year.” On December 14, 2019, at the Safety Banquet, my name was picked and I won a check for $10,000.00. I am hoping to make GHI the Company that I retire with. Thank you for everything that you have given me”.
The Gentlemen of the Year award is given to a driver who exhibits qualities of integrity, humbleness and an overall positive attitude towards his Company and colleagues. This year we are pleased to honor John McLaughlin as 2020’s Gentleman of the Year.
